Terrific Pork BBQ from SC’s first family of swine. Order off the menu or buffet. Established in 1946, Bessinger’s is the “Home of the Original Big Joe” sandwich. Side orders include Carolina Cole Slaw, Fish Stew, Black Eyed Peas, and Baked Beans.  SC style Hash over Rice is also offered.  Desserts are highlighted by Pecan Pie, Key Lime Pie, and a daily special. Daily buffet specials include Clam Strips, Deviled Crab, Catfish, Shrimp and Grits, Roast Beef, and Country Sausage, down-home veggies, hash & rice, and red or purlieu rice (the latter is a SC staple).  The BBQ pork is outstanding which comes as no surprise, since the Bessinger name is synonymous with great South Carolina BBQ. Recommended!

Pork BBQ and good ole' home cookin' just across the intercoastal waterway from the Grand Strand, located adjacent to the popular Waccamaw Outlet Shops.  BBQ sandwiches are above average (add slaw for just a few pennies more).  Good all you can eat lunch buffet, although the price ($10) is slightly higher than most restaurants of its kind and include tangy BBQ Chicken breasts, a fine sweet potato casserole, and, for those daring diners, homemade pork rinds. One of the very few good BBQ joints in the Myrtle Beach area.

Although this place doesn’t appear fancy from the exterior, it is one of the highest rated restaurants in the South … certainly in South Carolina.  Frank’s often appears in Southern Living’s listing of best small town eateries and is one of our favorites for an anniversary celebration dinner.  Open for Dinner only and reservations are highly recommended at any time of year. The food is top notch, often featuring fresh local seafood and Southern specialties.  In the Summer you can sit outside under the live oaks in Frank’s Outback Patio.

This great little family restaurant has been operating since 1948.  Opened by Eford and Pearl Lee, Lee's Inlet Kitchen is still run by the Lee family.  Start with homemade she crab soup or oyster stew.  We strongly recommend the "Grilled Choice Platter." Ours came with a meaty crabcake, plump scallops, and fantail shrimp ... all were delicious.  Service is prompt and the atmosphere homey.  Fresh seafood entrees range from $19-37. Call for seasonal hours

Lots of atmosphere at this hard to find dive (pardon the pun) with a screened porch, plastic patio chairs, etc.  Boiled peanuts are served as a starter.  Try the Fried Seafood Platter.  Cash and checks only - no credit cards!
